Creating a TrustRating account takes about a minute and is completely free. This guide walks through every step — signing up, verifying your email, the two ways to sign in, and what to do when something goes wrong.
Who needs an account?
You can read reviews, browse companies, and compare TrustScores without an account. You need one when you want to do something:
- Write, edit, or delete reviews
- Report a review or company
- Claim and manage a business profile
- Join the affiliate program
One account covers all of these. If you later claim a company, your personal account simply gains business access on top — you do not need a second login.
Step 1: Sign up
- Click Sign up in the top-right corner of any page.
- Enter your name and email address.
- Choose a password. The form shows a live strength meter — aim for the green zone. A long passphrase of three or four random words beats a short cryptic string every time.
- Complete the human check if prompted. TrustRating uses a privacy-friendly challenge to keep bots out; real people almost never see more than a single checkbox.
- Accept the terms and submit.
We will send a verification email straight away. Click the link inside it to confirm your address. Verification matters: it protects your account, and reviews from verified accounts carry more weight in our integrity systems.
Tip: If the email does not arrive within a couple of minutes, check your spam folder and confirm you typed the address correctly. You can request a fresh link from the sign-in page at any time.
Step 2: Signing in — two ways
TrustRating supports two sign-in methods, and you can use whichever suits the moment:
Password. The classic option. Enter your email and password on the login page. If you have enabled it, you will stay signed in on your device until you log out.
Sign-in link. Prefer not to type a password? Enter just your email and choose the sign-in link option. We email you a one-time link that signs you in with a single click. Links expire quickly and only work once, which makes them safe even if an old email is exposed later.
Both methods lead to the same account. People commonly use the password on their main computer and sign-in links on shared or public devices where typing a password feels risky.
Step 3: Complete your profile
After your first sign-in, take a minute to visit your account settings:
- Display name — this appears next to your reviews. Use your real name or a consistent pseudonym; either is fine under our guidelines.
- Notification preferences — choose which emails you want: replies to your reviews, updates on reports you filed, product news.
- Password and security — you can change your password here at any time. See keeping your account secure for our recommendations.
One account, every device
Your TrustRating account works the same everywhere — desktop browser, tablet, or phone. Sign in on as many devices as you like; each session is independent, so signing out of a shared computer never disconnects your phone. If you ever want a clean slate — say, after using a hotel-lobby PC — changing your password signs out every other session at once, which is the fastest way to make absolutely sure nothing stayed logged in somewhere you cannot see. It is also worth knowing that reviews you write are attached to the account, not the device: you can start a review on your phone in the store parking lot and finish it later at your desk simply by signing in there.
Business accounts: a special case
If a business created your account for you — for example, a colleague invited you to help manage a company profile — you will receive an activation email instead of setting a password during signup. Click the activation link, choose your password on the page that opens (the same strength meter applies), and you are in. If the link has expired, request a new one from the login page using Forgot password.
Troubleshooting sign-in problems
"I forgot my password." Use Forgot password on the login page. We email you a reset link; open it, choose a new password, and you will land back on the login page with a confirmation banner. Reset links are single-use and time-limited — if yours has expired, just request another.
"The sign-in link says it's invalid." Links expire after a short window and die the moment they are used. Email apps that preview links can accidentally consume them. Request a new link, then open it directly in your browser rather than through a preview.
"I'm not receiving any emails." First check spam and any filtering rules. Corporate mail servers sometimes quarantine automated mail; if you are using a work address, ask your IT team to allow mail from our domain. Still stuck? Contact support from the address on the account and we will investigate the delivery logs.
"My account seems to be suspended." If your account was restricted for a guideline violation, you will see a notice when signing in, and a label appears on your profile. Suspensions can be appealed — the notice explains how, and our community guidelines describe what triggers enforcement.
Deleting your account
You are never locked in. You can request account deletion from your account settings. Published reviews are handled according to our privacy policy — see the legal hub for the full details of what is removed and what may be retained for integrity purposes.
What's next?
With your account ready, the natural next step is your first review. Our guide on writing a great review covers what makes reviews genuinely useful — and what gets them held by moderation. If you are here to manage a company instead, jump to claiming your company profile.
